Aeonas - The Time Juggler

This is an excerpt from the journal of Fawe the Elementalist.

…as I closed my eyes, moments before sleep overcame me, I could still feel both excitement and fear about finally having ventured into Necrovion.

I must have been sleeping very lightly because it was the crackling of the fire that awoke me and not the man that was sitting by it. I jumped up in surprise and my heart immediately started racing. There I was, my first night in Necrovion and I was gonna get my throat cut…or worse! Little did I know that this man was there to save my life. My eyes needed time to adjust so for the moment I only saw a dark silhouette, but his relaxed stance made it clear that he was not an enemy.

He barely opened his mouth but the sound of his calm and sturdy voice immediately made me feel even less alarmed.

   - Hello master Fawe, i hope you will forgive intrusion...

I was totally confident that no one I knew had ever entered Necrovion, so how could this strange man know my name? At this point, i was able to discern the details of his appearance, as the campfire light shone upon him.

The first feeling i had was that of gratitude for the powers that be, as i realized the person sitting in front of me appeared to be human. It was a tall and well, but not extremely, built man. He had long black hair and his skin was extremely white, almost bloodless. I immediately discharged the idea that he might be a vampire, because the frost of his warm breath shooting out into the freezing cold air was very hard to miss, as was mine. Nevertheless, the most intriguing of his features was not the color of his skin, but of his eyes. It was the black color of the darkest coal, the deepest night. Even by the firelight i could not distinguish pupil from iris. As if that was not enough to make me awful, his two pebbles of eyes had a most formidable quality. A quality that could only be described as agelessness, or perhaps... omniscience.

The most logical question came to my lips. As i opened my mouth to pose it, the sound of my inhalation was disrupted by his deep, straight voice.

- You don't know me... yet. My name is Aeonas...
