- Help people learn. People will help you. A good fight, well fought, is much more enjoyable than a simple win.
- Pay attention to the fights you lose. Try to figure out what went wrong. If somebody handed you your lungs, try to see if you can use the same tactic.
- Don't bash a training ground until you understand it and have taken time to evaluate it. Watch. Listen. Observe what is taught, what is learned, and what happens to people who break the rules.
- Pay attention to the VP you have after winning a big fight.
- Asterisk fighting is lame. If you talk tough, have the combat chops to prove you actually are tough.
- Learn everything you can about skills and auras.
- If you're a weak duelist, try to spend a lot of time with the Heads Contest every month. Good duelists are often born here, and lasting friendships are often made.
- Every creature has a good use. If you don't know what that use is, fight until you see it used well.
- Pay attention. If you attack people on sight everywhere you go, expect to be disliked. It's damn rude to go in and start attacking while people are trying to talk, listen to a lecture, or whatever else.
