LedahvsSyrian
Onyx Mirrorseraph meets Rustgold Wraithling
Sound on.
What happens, and why
In a ruined temple under a storm sky, Ledah's Onyx Mirrorseraph waits with its wings folded. Across the cracked floor, Syrian's Rustgold Wraithling crouches low, smoke rolling off its shoulders, the shard at its throat glowing red.
The Wraithling strikes first. It charges and lunges twice, jaws snapping. Both times the Mirrorseraph meets it with an open palm and the gold seal in it, and pushes it back. Strength against strength, neither can break the other.
So the Wraithling changes the fight. It springs back, rears high on its hind legs and empties its lungs in one huge cone of black smoke.
The temple disappears. Inside the smoke the Mirrorseraph cannot see, and any blow it throws now would go wide. This is the Wraithling's best weapon: it does not wound, it blinds.
But the smoke has a price. To breathe it, the Wraithling must rear up and spend all its breath at once. Now it stands tall with its chest open, still gathering itself to drop and pounce.
The Mirrorseraph does not swing at a shadow. It stands still and raises its palm. The gold seal kindles, one small light in the dark.
Then its wings open and every feather becomes a white mirror. A flash of light does not have to find its target: it fills the smoke from the inside and tears it apart.
The flash catches the Wraithling at the one moment it is open, reared up with its breath spent. Dazzled, it twists away, loses its footing and falls.
The smoke clears. The Mirrorseraph stands over the fallen Wraithling with its seal raised, and the Wraithling lowers its head. It is unhurt, but the fight is over.
Why the Mirrorseraph won: smoke defeats anything that must aim, but a flash of light does not aim. And the smoke leaves the Wraithling open while it rears and catches its breath. The Mirrorseraph did not strike blind; it waited for exactly that moment.
