I sense you
are finding your way; I feel your
approach long before your image
appears on the horizon. I’ve been
luring you from across
this expanse of time and
space – enticing
you from your fading allegiances. Now, you
find yourself sailing
from your island of unraveled obligations, ambivalent
in your new-found freedom yet tempted
by the possibility of new discovery. But, do not
count on me to unveil my treasures or invite
you to the warmth of my secrets; this is
just a game I play to while away the ages. You are
simply the prey of my projection – this wicked
summons I send out over the waves in search
of one who cannot resist my song. It is my
nature to be wanted and it is your nature to want, but in the
having the want is lost. So, once
you profess you’re mine - and you will, I’ll spread
my wings and fly out to sea leaving you
alone on the shore of your desire. And each
time I sense the tides of longing rush over you, this
enchantment I have cast will be consummated. One day,
when your mortal form grows weak and
Amphitrite sweeps you unto her depths, I shall
beckon another. |
