Some old FAQ i found to be instructive

    7. Even though the regeneration counter finished, or I got some VE/VP from sacrificing, nothing has changed!

First off, after a bit of time, the regen counter can lag. You may need to refresh to accurately gauge when the next regeneration is. Also, the stats don`t update until the little golden circle under your bars of stats has a bar at the top, or where the hands would be on a clock if it was 12 o`clock. For max VE and VP, you may need to clear cache and refresh, or log out and back in.

    8. How do I heal my creatures?

If you`ve already recruited creatures, you should see a dragon icon (looks more like a pile of sludge to me, but others tell me it`s a dragon) on the left sidebar. If you don`t, refer to #4. If you do, click on that icon. It will bring you to a page with pictures of your creatures with orange bars below them if wounded. Click on the orange bars to give a percentage of your VE.

    9. How do I level my creatures?

Click on the dragon icon on the left sidebar, and then the picture of the creature you want information about. It will bring you to a description of the creature, show its abilities in fights and reveal the requirements to upgrade to the next level. When you have met almost all the requirements, there will be a gray ring around the picture of the creature (in the page you`re brought to by clicking the dragon). If you have met all, there will be an orange ring, and when the creature-icon is clicked, the creature description page should have a button for upgrading it (and renaming, if the creature is in its high levels). When the creature is maxed, it will have a permanent gold ring around it.

    10. How do I get age?

You don`t need to do anything for age. Age increases 1 unit per 24 hours from the time of recruitment, regardless of online or offline status. Some creatures will have high age requirements to upgrade, and therefore some better creatures may be restricted to older players.

    11. What is the story for?

Different choices in the story will give different stat bonuses and quests which will affect gameplay. After players reach certain criteria of experience and won fights, they can reset the story to play it a different way and gain another mindpoint, enabling the selection of another principle. There are many different routes in the story, and players are encouraged to choose different options each time to gain the most diverse gaming experience as possible. It is the story behind all of the concepts and the map of magicduel, and there will be story-related features such as access to another land and quests in the future.

    12. What are principles for?

Principles will be used for magic,  You can only have as many principles as your mindpower level. It`s up to you to decide which ones you like best and will fit your playerstyle. You can increase principles through story and sacrificing.

    13. Why can`t my creatures get anymore exp or won fights all of a sudden?

You`ve probably hit the exp cap for your mindpower level, or if you`re in mp3, gotten 100 won fights. These are the requirements to advance to the next mindpower level. The reason why there are caps is to stop players from staying in one mindpower level to grow stronger by picking on the weaker players there, and encourage them to advance to the next one.
    Or you have negative honour

    15. Where do you find creatures, sanctuaries, shops and sacrifice altars?

All of these can be found scattered around the different lands. Keep on exploring and if you see something curious (like a door or strange figure) move your cursor over it. If part of the thing or all of it glows golden, it means you can interact with the thing, whatever it is. Click and find out. If you have trouble finding any of the above mentioned, you may ask another player who would be willing to give directions.

    16. How does armor affect me?

Armor raises different skills and stats, as can be seen when you click details in the armor page. These skills can be distributed among your monsters when you fight (see #17).

    17. What are skills used for?

Your skills are distributed among your creatures when fighting, along with your vitality depending on how strong the vitality bond is set in a ritual; the greater the bond, the more % gets distributed. Different skills influence your creatures in different ways; i.e. attack raises damaged and defense lowers damage done to your creatures. Other skills are used outside of battle, such as briskness and luck. There is a list of skills and their effects you can access by going to your profile page then go to 'more info'.
    18. Is it possible to have negative stats/skills?

Sometimes a choice in the story will give you negative stats bonuses, and if you lose more than you have, your stats will become negative. Don`t be discouraged because you are bound to make choices that will give you positive bonuses and you can always gain stats other ways, such as sacrificing creatures. Players who stick to a single route which always gives them positives bonuses in the story will miss out.
    19. How do you attack another player?

This option is only available after tutorial mode, in free roam. Click on a playername in your mindpower in the player list and then on the button that says ``Attack this player for ___ honor.`` You can only attack people in your mindpower level. You can tell what mp level a person is in by the yellow symbol by their name; a whole yellow cross is mp3, a black dot in the middle of a cross is mp4, and a single black dot under a yellow dot is mp5. Only the orange playernames can be fought; black means the player has moved to another area, and gray means that the player is offline.
    20. What do you gain from fights?

Based on the damage done, you gain experience and skill rewards, as well as value points. Experience is distributed equally among all the surviving creatures, and is needed to level them up. Also, each creature that survives gets a ``won fight,`` also a requirement to level them up. Finally, your win count is raised if you get a ``VICTORIOUS`` and your loss fight is raised if you get ``DEFEATED.`` The determination of the results of the fights is based on the damage done to each side in percentage of VE damage, and requirements that seem to change from time to time. Under your balance counter, there is a link name ``Ballancing fights`` which explains in further detail. It is important to keep the ratio of wins and losses balanced (more info below). You also gain or lose honor.

    21. What is heat?

Heat acts as a combat reward multiplier (copied from somewhere) for exp and skill gain. Max usable heat is 3000 which gives a 1-3 times bonus. It is obtained through walking around (based on briskness skill), sacrificing/recruiting creatures, buying equipment and attacked or being attacked (based on damage done to enemy). It decreases at a rate of 1 point per second. Heat can be stored in the small orbs above the counter, by clicking the counter. When you click the counter you will store 1006 heat, if you have it, and the rest will be lost. If you have 2k heat then two orbs will be filled etc. You can retrieve the heat by clicking the orbs one by one. More orbs can be bought in the MD Shop.
    not for mp3

    22. What is honor?

Basically, honor awarded for winning tells how many more wins the defender has than you, only it is not total wins but the difference between his wins and losses. So if you have 100 losses and 200 wins (100 more wins than losses), and somebody gives you 100 honor, then he has two hundred more wins than losses. When honor is negative, he has a greater loss:win ratio than you do. Say the position was reversed, and he had 200 wins and 100 losses, and you give him one hundred honor because you have two hundred more wins than losses. He will give you -50 honor.. notice that the negative value is halved from what it would be if it was positive. You only get or lose honor that is shown in the attack option if you win, although you will lose a very small amount of honor if you have a greater win:lose ratio than another and you lose. So if you wanted to make sure you don`t unbalance someone who has a worse balance than you, attack someone for honor when you wish to win and someone with negative honor when you wish to lose.

    23. What is honor used for?

Honor at the moment is used to buy items in the MD shop, and later it will be ``used to activate certain areas, items, features, quests.`` If you get -500 honor, you will not get any combat reward until you are balanced again. To make rebalancing easier, at such a point you will not get negative honor for attacking others.

    24. What are value points?

Value points are used to buy equipment in stores scattered across the lands, and it is also needed to enlist creatures or level them up. Max vp is raised through story bonuses and creature sacrifices. You can get temporary vp by winning against others (based on damage done), randomly when roaming around (based on luck stat) and sacrificing creatures again. Any temporary vp over the the amount of max vp vanishes when the regeneration counter finishes.

    25. Why don`t my rituals work correctly?

You can make a ritual have priority (meaning it will be used when attacked) by checking the defensive option during creation. Among multiple rituals which are defensive (or multiple rituals, none being defensive) the most recently-made ritual (last one on the list) will be selected. Rituals will be broken when defeated regardless of whether it was used to attack or defend. If a ritual has less than 301 VE before VE bond and combos, a random one will be used instead.
    26. What are combos?

If you use one ritual successfully and win several times with it, the combo count for it raises. Each combo gives a little bit of extra vitality for your creatures when you fight with the ritual.. Manu says that if the combo count is high enough, you can use that ritual for regeneration.

    27. What is integrity?

Integrity is how many creatures you have in a ritual, and after you use it once it shows how many creatures survived the last fight it was in.

    28. Why is it good to have a balance of wins and losses?

You get a bonus. If you have less than a 1 fight difference between the two counts, then you can get up to 100% bonus in exp; the more balanced, the greater the reward. There is also a bonus for skill reward from battle, and it is half the % bonus in exp.

    29. What is idle mode?

If you are inactive for 15 minutes, you automatically go into idle mode, which helps server traffic. You can still be attacked in idle mode, and even If you close the browser in idle mode, you can still be attacked by others and counted as online; the only way to make it impossible for others to attack you is to go offline or in a sanctuary.. In idle mode, notification sounds stop.

    30. People always attack me and I lose VE before I can fight, and when I do, I always lose.

You can be safe from attacks offline or in a sanctuary. Try attacks on those with low VE and others weaker than you, before going into hiding again to regenerate. Eventually, when you train your creatures enough, you will be able to rely on strategy more and defeat players who are older and more experienced with specific counter rituals.

    31. What is a head contest?

Head contests come every so often. Generally players get a head on a regular basis, and they attack each other for these heads. If the player wins, he gains the heads another player has. The longer and in greater quantity heads are kept increases points which are calculated to announce the winners. There are winners of every mp level and they get a prize. Head contest rules change from time to time, though.

    32. What is the mechanical thing in Beserker`s Way

If you`re told to find a clue, go back to all the places you`ve learned about magicduel before (That isn't this page) which might hold useful information, and look for something new. Once you`ve found something new, see if you can apply it to something you`re trying to do.

    33. How do I solve the Berserker Way puzzle?

The most important thing to do is grab a pencil and paper (or if you`re savvy, open up a word document or other program) and start recording patterns like you would for any puzzle. Although it may appear to be random, it really isn`t. Once you find patterns, try to manipulate them to fulfill your objective. If you have solved it but don`t know what to do now, reread the message and try to look for something new as you travel.

    34. What is the weird floor in the Broken Pattern Gazeebo?

puzzle  implemented in the game , so it`s not a bad idea to try it out yourself. Once again, use a pencil or paper (or word document) and begin recording patterns.

    35. What is the best way to defeat npcs like the Loreroot guards or advanced players?

Defeating loreroot guards at mp3 is near impossible if not impossible

Well, you might have to train up a couple of creatures on weaker players or people who just drained all of their vitality fighting someone else. In the meanwhile, you can examine fight logs to see which creatures do the most damage, the effects of creature skills such as weaken damage and regenerate, ect. to figure out the most effective rituals against other types of creatures. Try it out on the npc you have trouble defeating (if you have trouble) and if it doesn`t work, try different things and continue looking at fight logs. If nothing works, train your creatures and try to get some more stats. Don`t give up! And make sure you put that extra value points you gain from defeating npcs to use.

    52. I just joined an alliance and I had more honor points that the leader but now I have less than him. Why?

If you join an alliance and you have more honor than the current leader you will lose honor so you'll be under the current leaders honor points. This is done so you can't overthrown an alliance but it is possible to then gain more honor than the loyality and then become the leader yourself.

    88. When at max experience why cant i gain any creature wins or stats or anything else?

The answer is simple, if you want you can gain the rest of your 100 wins, making sure to keep a balance would help out later in the game, and then go to a higher mp level.

    89. Why do they have a max xp and win level for the mp levels?

It is not simple to make a character dominate any at your mp level it just takes time and effort and a good working knowledge of tactics, thus making someone who can achieve this not want to go to a higher mp level. By incorporating this it almost forces you to go to a higher mp level or wait around and gather age, which everyone needs but not as much as xp and wins. thus making it required to upgrade your creatures and gain a better working knowledge of how different the styles and rituals can be.

    90. How do i check another persons or even my profile page?

You can check your profile page out by looking at your stat screen, it is the one that looks like the upper part of a person, and clicking the link public URL:
    example URL: http://magicduel.com/players/Morgana_Le_Fey

this shows you your own profile and if you change the name
example public URL: http://magicduel.com/players/Morgana_Le_Fey to say lets do Evoker MorganJade ok it will look like this

    public URL: http://magicduel.com/players/Evoker_MorganJade

This is a page where you can find a piece from the many things you'll find in this game. I certainly could not cover all the news that this game will give you, but here you will find what is most important for u to grow and become a good player.

                 I) Healing Ritual

you can heal your creatures after battles on creature page but you dont have unlimited life, and u will nead to wait untill the regeneration counter reaches to 00:00 a couple of times, and this involves a lot of work and a lot of time lost.
the healing ritual is used by two players who want to heal their creatures and that involving their agree to attacking each other without damaging there creatures.
how it works? is simple... u must find a player who agrees to do a healing ritual, most of the people are found in the dojo(Marind Dale Park). Then you make a Ritual with creatures who are hurt and can do weaken damage and heal. DO NOT EVER include any creatures which will do damage. After both of you have done this agree on who attacks who and then hit each other and see the result. You will definitely know it's much faster than healing on your own. When you are doing the Healing Ritual make sure u put the personal boost (slider) to ZERO or it is a total waste.

                II) 301 Vitality Rule

This means that in any Ritual you make your creature should have at least minimum of 301 vitality, for example try using only one Barren soul in a Ritual and try to hit someone. It wouldn't work because its total health is only 200 and what will happen is the game will create its own random Ritual and this will usually be trouble some. That is why always make sure your Ritual has more than just 301 vitality.

               III) Heat Orb

The Heat Orb it is desabled on MP3 but it is still available, you get heat, just u do not see it and u cant use it.
How u get heat? if u buy or sac a creature, if u walk, if u buy armor,  or if u win a battle where is involved alot of vitality from the part of the defender. For each creature u sac u get 1000 Pts of heat and u lose 1Pt of heat per second.
Heat give u more stats when u win a fight, but in mp3 the value you get is so small it's not worth it at all. And what's worse is that you will get unwanted Personal Exp more than your creatures xp which will just push you over the Exp cap limit and you won't be able to train anymore your creatures.

All i will ask from you is PLEASE DO NOT USE HEAT in mp3...

               IV) Wins Over Exp

It's always better getting wins for your creatures before exp...  Why? Here u will find an exemple that will give u the reason why:
If a creature need 100 wins and 40k exp to be at maximum level then lets say u get the 40k exp first and now looking for wins, now for each win you will be getting more exp for the creature and that means you are wasting your own exp as in mp3 the exp limit is a big problem(380k xp limit). But if you get the wins first then you can perfectly calculate how much exp is needed and after you get it you can leave the creature and train with another.
U get wins without too much exp if u attack players with low personal vitality and low vitality on his creatures or if u use non-dmg rituals. The only creatures u can use in these rituals to get wins without exp are creatures that can do heal and weaken defence.
For this you need to find a friend who is willing to help you out by setting a defence which doesn't do any damage, and you also make a ritual with the creatures you want and it also shouldn't do any damage. Then YOU SHOULD HIT HIM and both of you won't have hurt each other but you would have got a win and your friend would have got a loss.

We can use grassans or creatures that have as targets multiple creatures for this also, but to work u nead your friend should make sure his ritual has only 1 creature and in that way your creature doesn't have anything to hit and you get a win without Exp. U can use also creatures that have as target dying creatures but it is necesary that your friend to have all his creatures in his rit fully healed and u will have the same... your creatures will not have anithing to hit.

                V) Free Voting

If you do the free voting every day, each month you can get up to a maximum of $6, which you can use to buy items in the MD shop. Another reason why people use free voting is because it gives u vitality and value points per each vote based on your permanent VP and Vit. Many people use this to get VP more than the total so they can buy armors that cost a lot more or creatures which are costly.

               VI) Sacrificing Creatures

The reasons why people sacrifice creatures is because so they can buy new creatures or store the heat they get from sacrificing, or for the stats given when sacrificing a creature. The more the wins on the creature the more stats you get. But you need to be careful for if you sacrifice too many of your strongest creatures then you won't have any creature left to help train the newly recruited creatures.

And here are some insights concerning the fighting system that might greatly help you:

                  1) Barren souls are only good for the 2 power skill boost when you sac them. I cant say too much but when you wish to enter loreroot on mp3 or early mp4 you will have to be at a decent power skill. Barren souls only need 8000xp to max otherwise just wins which are easy to get on mp3.
Aramors are the weakest fighting units there are. hey have only very little upgrading levels and are weaker then all the other creatures. Dont waste your precious xp on aramors if you are at mp3.

                   2) When I read the profile of the grasan the first time I thought he sucks as well. He does on level 1 but on level 2 you will see him gain something very useful. And at level 3 he will be your best creature on mp3.

                   3) You have a xp cap at 380.000 so you should get as many wins as possible on your creatures. When you plan to attack other mp3s look at their vitality and creature vitality. Attack those with low numbers there. Xp gain = total damage dealt to opponents creatures. So its wiser to figth 100 battles for only 1000xp and many wins than 50 battles for max xp and then ending up on mp4 with only level2 and level3 crits.

                   4) Heat multiplies your stats gain and personal xp gain but not your creature xp! It multiples your stat gain by 3 if you use max heat most of the time. So you should really think twice if it is worth using heat for a few more stats and a huge amount of personal xp. In my opinion its not worth using heat on mp4 expect when you are very close to your cap and want to go over it in one huge battle. Since it is very easy to lose personal xp on mp5 always use max heat when you are on mp5.

                   5) Beware of healing rituals. If you u help another player heal his creatures the creature you will use is going to lose xp! So if you do decide to do a healing ritual use a single heretic archer on weaken def for example. Just have that guy around and never use him in battle just for healing rituals. That way you wont lose xp because he always is at 0 xp.

                    6) And finally a trick for those who want to do everything right on mp3 on an alternative account for example. Only train the creature you need to get into loreroot and of course a few other useful ones to beat the Willow Shop guards. Then drop to over -500 negative honor then you wont gain any xp or anything for fighting them. It will tell you that you are at your xp cap! That way you can get entry into loreroot with very little personal xp and then buy and train all those beautiful lore crits. Just get positive honor again afterwards.

                     7) Read the balacing fights help as often as it takes you to understand it. Once you understand it it is very easy to get a sword balance without the oppoenent or training partner to get a loss counted to his profile. That way you can keep training with friends without any of you suffering losses on their profile.

                      8) If you dont want to play very risky and especially if you are in an alliance aim for perfect balance - Same amounts of wins and losses. You will get a higher stat and xp reward from each battle you win and you might also discover something even better eventually.

                       9) And now for a better understanding of lifesteal: It is very important that you take the vitality on your creatures into account. Lets take a single lifestealer ritual for example. You will want to pump 100% of your stats into the lifestealer so that it leeches a decent amount and has some defence. However what you dont want to do in most cases is having to much vitality on it. All battle outcomes are based on the percentage of vitality loss and gain from the amount of vitality you started the battle with. So if you have 10k vitalility on your single lifestealer when you enter the battle you will only gain a victorious/sword balance if it ends the fight with at least 11k vitality on it and of course the opponent loosing a big deal of their vitality. Since it gets 100% of your initiative and defence anyway you will want to enter the battle with as little vitality as possible to really gain a victorious.

Most people will be too lazy to read all this and since the last points would be the most usefull one for advanced players keep this information to you. You went through all the trouble reading this so its your knowledge now. If others didnt read it its their fault so dont share it. Keep it to you and progress faster than they do. You deserved it.

    ifferent ritual types:

Healing Ritual For Mp3 players the most important ritual is probably the healing ritual. This is a ritual where each side creates a ritual that only includes creatures that do no damage to the opposing side, eg. Heretic archers on weaken defence and Barren Souls on heal. This way both sides get some of their creatures fully healed. Be careful not to put attackers into these rituals though if you agree to do a healing ritual. Always do these rituals in a secluded place as you could very easily get attacked while u have it out and be sure to unbind this ritual immediately after using it as you do not want all those creatures destroyed straight away!

    2 Creature Rituals

These are often good against large 6 creature rituals that target multiple creatures when u reach mp5 and your stats are starting to grow. When your stats start to grow they will affect the battles as much as the creatures being leveled up. The multi targeting ability targets a random figure between 2 and 4 creatures BUT if it tries to target 3 creatures and there is only 2 available it will miss with that attack! A good 2 creature ritual will often be an elemental and an Elite Lorerootian Archer.

    1 creature rituals

With high stats these can be deadly, For example with an attack stat of 400 and a Chaos Archer u will deal over 80 damage to each creature on the opposing team, ignore all creatures that attack multiple creatures and give u a defence boost equal to your stats.

Rituals that give u a better chance of achieving victories

Certain rituals will give u a better chance of achieving victories, these are rituals that do damage to u as well as the opponent. The creatures that will achieve this for u are the ones that cast Martarism, like the Animated tree or the Water Guardian. This is only useful once u have entered mp4 and mp5 when u need to achieve victories, not just wins. If u have a low power stat i would suggest using more than 1 of these creatures.
