Hate is anger in true focus - the burning sun's rays given precision through a lens..

Anger is blind but hate sees with perfect clarity what it seeks to annihilate. Therefore anger is energy, but hatred might be considered power.

The morality of such power is open to interpretation of the individual; but then consider that morality is most commonly informed by the idea of order, creation and life, and so it can scarcely be expected to embrace a concept associated with destruction and disorder. And having said that, so many moral codes exist that seen from a distance they seem very chaotic indeed.

At any rate, the power to destroy or unmake has always walked in tandem with the power to create. No god or goddess would be able to manifest without the ability to annihilate, and few artists would wish to draw without the ability to erase.

Hatred, then, stripped of its moral tarnish, is simple a desire to return something to powerlessness, through a process of imposed suffering or 'uncreation'.

And in this desire, is the acquisition or transferrence of power.
