Night Shadowflake
Age: 17 Hieght: 5\'7\" Weight: 157 lbs. Description: Dirty blonde hair, lightly tanned complexion, eyes like sapphires (Deep blue that slowly fades into pointy edged, black pupils), Looks human in every way except the two mounds of bone shaped like cat ears that can be seen for about 3\" above his hair. (anyone who has seen the anime Elfen Lied may pick up on a description of a \"Diclonius\") After spending his first sixteen years in a Mage\'s Tower, a nice woman helped him escape on his seventeenth using a small row boat. Then, after drifting for days on the sea, dehydrated and starving, Night opened his eyes to a bright ray of sun shine and a voice that sounded far away. The voice sounded like the woman who helped him to escape the tower. After passing out almost immediately, Night woke up on the floor of a strange wooden room with a few windows and a long shiny scroll on a table, the remains of a poultice close by. As Night sat up he noticed something was wrong. Then it hit him like a cattle prod to the brain.....the woman was gone! Standing up slowly, he went to the table with the scroll on it. Scanning the writing Night only sees odd instructions. Thinking it a useless piece of parchment he goes out of a door he notices across from him. Outside he sees tracks, kneeling down he inspects them further......her footprints! He follows the tracks to the edge of a cliff where they stop, Looking over the edge he doesn\'t see a body. Did she jump? She has the ability to levitate, could she just be trying to make him think she had jumped? Why would she do that? Sinking heavily to the grass Night begins to cry. \"Why\'d she leave me?\" he asks the air. As night fell and it got colder Night went back into the \"Paper Cabin\". He noticed the name of this place on a sign post outside the door. He falls asleep, shivering on the cold wooden planks. The next morning he woke up with stiff muscles and covered with dew. After staring out the window for what seemed like an eternity Night read that long scroll again. The scroll held instructions for him. Slowly, as he read the instructions he realized she may still be alive after all. maybe this was just another of her experiments she needed me to participate in. \"For you mother....\", he said determinedly. \"I will endure this as well.....for you.\" Taking a couple of scrolls with him he stepped into the sunlight ready to see his \"mother\" at the finish line. \'Simply another test\', he thought to himself as he began his journey. Shadow opens the door and slips inside. \"Good evening ladies and gents\", He says politely. \"Evening Shadow4288,\" SageWoman replies. Shadow hears the tail-end of what may have been an interesting conversation. \"Nothing, i am just loaded\", The man talking to SageWoman says. After noticing the level of darkness in some of the corners, especially where his normal seat stood waiting, he walks over and stares at the chair . Then, a little too roughly (no matter his attempt at control) his chair slides back. Anyone paying attention may notice the finger dents in the wooden chairback that Shadow quickly covers up with his hand. \"Oops\", he mumbles to himself. He quickly sits down facing the table and lowers his face. After some time passes small dents, the shape of fingertips begin to form in the wooden table, Each one shallower and less noticeable then the last. The dents are made by what looks like a hand made of shadow; slightly transparent but noticeable nonetheless. It seems to be walking on middle and pointer finger. Some time later Shadow brings his knees to his chest while sitting on his chair and tucks his face behind them. The shadow vectors he was still getting used to after many days of unuse began to wrap themselves around his curled body. The individuals closest to where he melds into the shadow hears a sleepy, barely audible \"Good night world\".

Page 389 - The Inner Sun - Bo., MRD
Silence settles in the area, and even the wind refuses to blow. Bootes reaches across the board, moving a small – seemingly hidden – piece. MRD sputters for a moment and Bootes chuckles softly. “Check and Mate, Sir.” MRD looks on in disbelief for a moment and then extends his hand. “Bootes, I thank you for one fine game of chess.” ...
