Character

Combat stats tap a row for its sources

  • 23.67 initial = 23.67

The plain force your creatures strike with when you send them into a ritual.

Treasure from won fights, where it is the cheapest of the nine to raise. Worn weapons lend it, and some shop and reward items grant it.

Damage is your attack less the target's defence, and most abilities start their sum from it. Your total is shared out across the creatures in your ritual, so the same attack goes further in a ritual of two than in a ritual of six.

  • 18.35 initial = 18.35

How much of a blow your creatures shrug off before it touches their vitality.

Treasure from won fights, at three and a half times the cost of attack. Worn armour lends it, and some shop and reward items grant it.

It is subtracted from nearly every incoming blow, so a defence above the enemy's attack leaves them doing the minimum of one damage. Like the rest, your total is shared out across the creatures in your ritual.

  • 13.33 initial = 13.33

The strength behind everything your creatures do that is not a plain blow.

Treasure from won fights, the second cheapest of the nine to raise. Worn gear lends it, and some shop and reward items grant it.

Healing, protecting, stealing life, draining principles and poisoning all measure themselves against power and ignore attack entirely. Stealing life is capped at 20 percent of a creature, and an aimed hit at 25.

  • 7.38 initial = 7.38

How early your creatures move when a round opens.

Treasure from won fights, at five times the cost of attack. Worn gear lends it, and some shop and reward items grant it.

The whole field acts in order of initiative, highest first, so it decides whether you land a killing blow before the other side answers or after.

  • 9.42 initial = 9.42

How readily the realm's heat answers to you, in a fight and on the road.

Treasure from won fights, and one of the dearer of the nine. Worn gear lends it, and some shop and reward items grant it.

It is added to the heat you get for a fight you start, and a quarter of it is added to the heat of every step on your own land, or on any land while you belong to none.

  • 6.42 initial = 6.42

The realm's willingness to tilt a moment your way, or against you.

Treasure from won fights, but only on about one win in eight, so it grows in jumps rather than steadily. Clickables in the lands hand it out, and worn gear lends it.

On roughly one scene in three, luck finds you Winertia; luck below zero loses it instead. In a fight, luck on either side can double an effect or cancel it outright.

  • 7.65 initial = 7.65

How readily your vitality comes back to you.

Treasure from won fights, and by far the dearest of the nine to raise. Worn gear lends it, and some shop and reward items grant it.

It swells the vitality your house pays you on every refresh, by up to half again, with half of that reached at 2,000. After a fight, every creature you sent is brought back up to at least its regeneration as a percentage of its maximum vitality. Your regeneration is shared out among them like the other stats.

  • 14.01 initial = 14.01

Your nose for a price, and how hard you are to overcharge.

Treasure from won fights, at one of the higher costs of the nine. Worn gear lends it.

It takes up to 25 percent off a dwelling, a weapon and your house rent. The discount climbs fast at first and then flattens, reaching half its maximum at 750 and never quite the whole 25. It is the one of the nine the fight engine never reads.

  • 22.41 initial = 22.41

How well you hold together while crossing land that is not yours.

Treasure from won fights, at one of the higher costs of the nine. Worn helms and shields lend it.

Stepping into another house's territory costs you vitality, and your energetic immunity cancels that percentage of the loss. At 100 the crossing costs nothing at all.

Skills that only grow

  • nothing yet = 0.00

The weight of your own will, built by going where the realm pushes back.

Every scene you enter that costs action points. Going in above the viscosity minimum pays more than going in below it. The secured day streak pays as well.

Your share of a forge wish. There are five bands, from a tenth to a half.

  • 80 initial = 80.00

How far your character can still be reshaped. It starts at 80 for everyone and is only ever spent.

Nothing raises it yet. Every card you take by converting permanent stats lowers it by one.

The price of your next card. At 80 a card costs 10 points; each point of plasticity you lose makes the next card dearer (59, then 69, then 81 ...), and each point above 80 makes it cheaper, down to a floor of one.

Oceanus - Son of a Titan Comments on self

I am the titan son of the true gods Uranus and Gaia. As a child I was enamored of the water and was gifted by my parents with the ability to transform my legs into the torso of a serpent, or a fishes tail as need be. While playing in the waves of my beloved sea, I was attacked by a giant crab, in my rage at being disturbed, I discovered that my arms had taken on the form of a powerful crab\'s claws. In destroying my assailant, I learned to control this ability, and will on occasion transform my arms into those of a crab when I am doing something that has a very special meaning to me, or when my anger is severely provoked.

I prefer to live in peace and balance, and prefer to step back from most conflicts, not from fear, but because I find them to be petty and not worth my time. Those who are rash or easily provoked, often become targets of disdain or are simply ignored. My friends are few, as I am prone to toy and tease with those that I come in contact with, much as a boat is tossed on the oceans waves. However, if one can overcome the surface, there is a tremendous depth, and mysteries to be discovered if one is patient.

I have only suffered one true and lasting defeat in my lifetime, and that memory still haunts me to this day. To escape from the crushing thoughts of that day, I have devoted myself to discovering new lands and challenges, driving myself to become better and stronger at all times. I have discovered that sitting, watching and waiting have just as much ability to advance my abilities and learning as rushing off and testing myself physically, and as a result I am often found sitting with my chair proped against the wall of WindSpirits tavern enjoying the goings on. I watch, and plan before I act, for I truly detest failure.

My surface color is as blue as the oceans that were named after me. Learning is my prime motivator. For Knowledge and Logic are the true power. I will use that which I learn to my own ends, and am not averse to using deception to acheive my goals, although to those few that I call my friends, I am loyal, even to my destruction. False friends, I never forget, and will seek every oportunity to hinder, antagonize, and destroy, through any means necessary until not even a memory of the individual remains.

--------------- Chapter Two ---------------

For months, I have wandered these lands, pausing here and there to consider the strange beings which wander these realms. A few I have come to respect, even less, I call friends. In my early days, I wandered down the open roads, and learned to respect the power of the shades, and even after their weakness was found, and they were driven from the lands, I will remember, and watch for their return. I have learned much, and have learned to enjoy the thrill of training my new found companions, creatures as some would call them. And while I feel some of the darkness and lust for battle that emanates so strongly from them darken my soul, I remain their master.

In challenging the guardians of Loreroot, I discovered certain weaknesses in my knowledge, prompting me to pursue a new understanding of this realms powers. While persueing this enlightenment, I felt myself swept back to my first few days wandering this land, although this time, I noted several new items which drew my interest. My mind expanded with this new understanding, and within the hour of finding myself back within the confines of Marind Bell, I had defeated the last few shades still blocking my way, re entered the willows shop, and had walked into the beutiful lands of Loreroot, where I discovered several new powerful companions, whose motives were of a less dark nature.

I continue to stalk the realms, feeling my knowledge, and with it, my power, increase with each day that passes.

I know my origin, I will learn the rest.

For I am the Ocean.

"Damned, worthless, USELESS!" Without mercy, Khalazdad personally executes the spies that failed their mission. With a wicked grin, he licks their blood from his blade and laughs.
