Past Quests:

Puzzle Quest

This quest ran for 5 months and had 2 people solve it but many people try the first, second and third legs. I made this quest as a challenge and showcase of a few different types of puzzles people could expect from me. All of the solutions for each leg led to clickable elements which then gave the next leg so the Quest was completely self-contained except for any hints people requested.

A) 3D Stereograms - gave a riddle which led to the marind roundabout when arranged properly
B) Monoalphabetic Substitution Cipher (with a twist) - this led to a visual tile puzzle
C) Tile puzzle - Each edge had a pattern which needed to align with the neighbors when solved correctly, the next location and keyword were in the puzzle
D) Word Pattern Cipher - This "cipher" used the letter pattern of unique words in the English language to provide a series of "first letters" which then told the next location and keyword of the next leg
E) Check Back - After completing the four "challenge" portions of the Quest the quester was presented a series of questions and basically an evaluation of the Quest.

Only 2 people made it to the end(which was about what I was shooting for) They were supposed to be given a WP by Calyx of Isis who subsequently quit MD and never even gave the first WP which (s)he was still around. Yrthilian rewarded the WP for this quest since he felt it was worthwhile. After the 2 WP winners were rewarded I changed the reward to an old creature, but nobody else made it to/past leg 4.

Dimensional Shifters Alliance Quest
Putting aside the controversy of the Alliance takeover and dst's and simplyzeros animosity, I made this quest with a back story about the DS players where each one has a cipher with a hidden message from a past DS member

A) Caesar Cipher - The was the first ever created and easiest type of cipher to decode
B) Atbash -  Another classical and slightly more difficult cipher but still very easy.
C) A version of Pig Latin - More of a school boy playtime, this still leads to an interesting cipher
which requires some thought to work out the solution.
D) Monoalphabetic Cipher - Each letter is replaced by another letter to hide the meaning but no
additional tricks were done to make it harder

After solving those four ciphers which were in my pages, each led to a clickable element which gave further backstory about the particular DS alliance members and a quarter of the DS shield with a block of letters on each shield part. Once the four letter blocks were assembled, they could be decoded using a transposition cipher which told how to reassemble the shield and complete the quest.

Many many people completed this quest (since we made it to be solvable by everyone) and Dst and I gave old creatures as a reward for solving it.

Logic Puzzle Arcade
As many people know I enjoy solving puzzles like the broken gazeebo puzzle and have long felt that MD should have some more such games for people to play. So I made some. I have completed four puzzles for people to play and have already received a lot of feedback from people about how fun and challenging they are. I also have gotten kind of addicted to the logic games since they reset brand new each time you play them and can be played again and again for hours. I have ideas for 3-4 more such puzzle games which I will update over time.

In the future, my Quests might have solving particular instances of these type of logic games as one leg or component of the quest. I would be interested in working with Mur/whoever is responsible for MD development to make more integrated games for MD.

Cookies:
I understand that there won't be any cookies for this festival, but please don't give me any coal either, I have already taken lots of abuse due to my creation of the (Dimensional Shifters) Cipher Quest. I feel that I have been sufficiently punished already.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't mind having some WP to give out as rewards for my quests or a spell document. I also already "purchased" the level 4 clickable items in the wishpoint shop, but it would be great if I could get access/permission to edit the rest of the clickable elements as these can be really useful for Quest creation.

WooHoo no more RPCs!!! Very Nice Decision Mur !!!

My key interest is in working out puzzles and understanding how things work. It is not so much to have knowledge about "secret" things but to see how things are interconnected and through that insight better understand my place. On those lines I enjoy deconstructing puzzles such as the broken tile gazebo puzzle. Solving it was a fine challenge, but I was more interested in how the creator of the puzzle constructed it and why it was difficult. In that case, by fully understanding how the puzzle was developed in the first place, I have been able to help direct some people to a better understanding of it as well without spoiling the puzzle. In the long run, I wish to gain this type of understanding as to the underlying nature and rules of the MD universe.

In each of my quests, I have put together 2 hints for each quest leg which should help if you get completely stuck. Since I want everyone who tries my quests to spend some time working on / thinking about the puzzles, hints aren't free. You can complete any one of the tasks in the Hints Section to receive a hint. If you have a suggestion for a new task I will consider it, just PM me with the suggestion clearly written out.

The ultimate skill is to take up a position where you are formless.

If you are formless, the most penetrating spies will not be able to discern you,
or the wisest counsels will not be able to do calculations against you.

With formation, the army achieves victories yet they do not understand how.

Everyone knows the formation by which you achieved victory, yet no one knows
the formations by which you were able to create victory.

Therefore, your strategy for victories in battle is not repetitious, and your
formations in response to the enemy are endless.

-Sun Tzu The Art of War

Only through formlessness can you advance.

Protector? Who me?

Page 357 - The Inner Sun - Bo., Tar., Iam.
The men’s attention is drawn away from their current concern by a clamor coming from elsewhere in the Archives. Bootes peeks out his door to see a figure with a book shouting and singing on his way out. Tarquinus scowls dismissively at the spectacle and turns away. Bootes stops him and points, “Wait… What do you See There?” ...
