Character

Combat stats tap a row for its sources

  • 24.36 initial = 24.36

The plain force your creatures strike with when you send them into a ritual.

Treasure from won fights, where it is the cheapest of the nine to raise. Worn weapons lend it, and some shop and reward items grant it.

Damage is your attack less the target's defence, and most abilities start their sum from it. Your total is shared out across the creatures in your ritual, so the same attack goes further in a ritual of two than in a ritual of six.

  • 23.68 initial = 23.68

How much of a blow your creatures shrug off before it touches their vitality.

Treasure from won fights, at three and a half times the cost of attack. Worn armour lends it, and some shop and reward items grant it.

It is subtracted from nearly every incoming blow, so a defence above the enemy's attack leaves them doing the minimum of one damage. Like the rest, your total is shared out across the creatures in your ritual.

  • 17.69 initial = 17.69

The strength behind everything your creatures do that is not a plain blow.

Treasure from won fights, the second cheapest of the nine to raise. Worn gear lends it, and some shop and reward items grant it.

Healing, protecting, stealing life and poisoning all measure themselves against power and ignore attack entirely. Stealing life is capped at 20 percent of a creature, and an aimed hit at 25.

  • 14.27 initial = 14.27

How early your creatures move when a round opens.

Treasure from won fights, at five times the cost of attack. Worn gear lends it, and some shop and reward items grant it.

The whole field acts in order of initiative, highest first, so it decides whether you land a killing blow before the other side answers or after.

  • 20.49 initial = 20.49

How readily the realm's heat answers to you, in a fight and on the road.

Treasure from won fights, and one of the dearer of the nine. Worn gear lends it, and some shop and reward items grant it.

It is added to the heat you get for a fight you start, and a quarter of it is added to the heat of every step on your own land, or on any land while you belong to none.

  • 8.26 initial = 8.26

The realm's willingness to tilt a moment your way, or against you.

Treasure from won fights, but only on about one win in eight, so it grows in jumps rather than steadily. Clickables in the lands hand it out, and worn gear lends it.

On roughly one scene in three, luck finds you Winertia; luck below zero loses it instead. In a fight, luck on either side can double an effect or cancel it outright.

  • 17.39 initial = 17.39

How readily your vitality comes back to you.

Treasure from won fights, and by far the dearest of the nine to raise. Worn gear lends it, and some shop and reward items grant it.

It swells the vitality your house pays you on every refresh, by up to half again, with half of that reached at 2,000. After a fight, every creature you sent is brought back up to at least its regeneration as a percentage of its maximum vitality. Your regeneration is shared out among them like the other stats.

  • 11.86 initial = 11.86

Your nose for a price, and how hard you are to overcharge.

Treasure from won fights, at one of the higher costs of the nine. Worn gear lends it.

It takes up to 25 percent off a dwelling, a weapon and your house rent. The discount climbs fast at first and then flattens, reaching half its maximum at 750 and never quite the whole 25. It is the one of the nine the fight engine never reads.

  • 16.55 initial = 16.55

How well you hold together while crossing land that is not yours.

Treasure from won fights, at one of the higher costs of the nine. Worn helms and shields lend it.

Stepping into another house's territory costs you vitality, and your energetic immunity cancels that percentage of the loss. At 100 the crossing costs nothing at all.

Skills that only grow

  • 0.28 initial = 0.28

The weight of your own will, built by going where the realm pushes back.

Every scene you enter that costs action points. Going in above the viscosity minimum pays more than going in below it. The secured day streak pays as well.

Your share of a forge wish. There are five bands, from a tenth to a half.

  • 80 initial = 80.00

How far your character can still be reshaped. It starts at 80 for everyone and is only ever spent.

Nothing raises it yet. Every card you take by converting permanent stats lowers it by one.

The price of your next card. At 80 a card costs 10 points; each point of plasticity you lose makes the next card dearer (59, then 69, then 81 ...), and each point above 80 makes it cheaper, down to a floor of one.

Black Lightnig Comments on self

My name is Black Lightnig

I am somewhat a dark mage with a unique ablity to summon a form of electricity that is completely black

I was born in a city completely white called Sanctuary the magic in the air fueled the city which floated above the ocean. At birth every child is tested for magic capability sactuary took pride in there white mages who used healing magic to solve most of there problems.

I'm not saying im special in power, there were dark mages specialy bred to protect the city from invaders but they used fire and ice. electricity was to wild to controle even for the most experienced mages

When i was born they knew something was strange my hands were as black as night but the rest of my skin was white as the walls around me. My hair was as white as snow and my eyes crackled with the electricity within me.

At the age of 19 i was trialed to be a defender of the city and handed me the scrolls of ice and fire they commanded me,"Summon a spear of solid ice and hurl it at that training dummy." I tried to summon up the ice and as it formed they were shocked and shot fire at me.

I was startled at how they attacked me for no real reason and then i saw it. The ice had a solid black lightning bolt running end to end dance and moving as the fire hit the ice it melted and releaced the lightning it shot in all directions and destroyed the dummy along with a few pillons.

They banned me from the guards saying "We have a greater challenge for you." they predicted a great magical storm was coming a storm they couldnt not avoid, a storm that would destroy the whole city and plunge it into the ocean below. I had a few weeks to prepare.

As the days went by they kept checking on my progress training me in the black magic of lightning each day i found lightning easier and easier to control but the concentration to control simple sparks was like focusing on making rocks move without using your hands. The final day that the storm came drew near.

The Storm

It was the last day of training, My power has grown greatly after so much work at focusing on redirecting electricity i could sheild not just myself or a few others I could sheild whole buildings calling lightning to my hands and absorb it put it in a magical storage and then send it away when i wished but after it was put in to my hands it changed colour instantly to the darkest black you could think of, as if my skin poisoned the lightning, tainting it, and after all my training it disturbed me.

The Scholars of Sactuary took me to the tallest tower far away from the city below and showed me the devistation of the growing storm that loomed in the distance. My ears rang with the screams of people running for their lives, my nose filled with the scent of smoke from burning buildings the air pulsed with the pure essence of magic, something was wrong. a city full of mages, couldnt stop the weather? they couldnt stop lightning hitting their buildings, killing their people. this was more than a storm. It was a magical attack. Hidden deep within the black clouds was a small gem filled with the magic of a thousand mages attempting to destroy everything I ever knew killing my friends, I knew my family would be safe inside one of the houses. My mind dizzy with all the chaos going on around me. Suddenly everything became clear to me, it was time for me to defend my people. I raised my hands and let the magic flow through me, I feel the electricity flowing through my vains, this was the most power i have ever felt more than training more than learning, I saw a bolt of lightning burst out of the storm I instantly flung out my magic and redirected it towards me, it came at me and I didnt react fast enough, the bolt hit me in my chest like a hammer being shot out of a cannon, I was flung across the room and in to the wall. I slowly got up eyes blured and body tingling from head to toe. One of the scholars rushed over and started using white magic to heal me, I walked back over to the balcony ready to face the storm. Again. another bolt shot out, I curved it towards myself again and it struck my right hand, the whole bolt instantly turned my tainted black and shot back at the storm cloud from my left it stuck the cloud and the cloud flashed a brillient crimson red. The Storm clouds were solid like a big marshmellow then I knew, I didnt have to use its power against it. I had weeks of electricity on backup it was time to let it all lose.

I started unlocking some restraints that appeared to be ordinary wrist bands I felt the power of five weeks training built up in my body, as the wrist bands hit the floor it took all my mental will to stop the electricity from flying out and destroying everything in its path, my hands were encased in electricity beads of sweat rand down my face and my back, I tried to focus all my power towards the cloud it was almost over us now and then i saw it. This Emerald green orb the size of a child, glowing electricity flying  out of it hitting all the buildings and killing people, that was my new target

I cant remember what really happened, I remember letting the electricty go, I remember it going in the dead straight line from the tip of the building to the sky, I remember a green flash a great big explosion and then, white, then black.

I awoke to one of the scholars over me shaking me, "are you ok?" he asked as I looked at him I looked at his robes, the last I remeber of his robes were they were the finest white, now they were almost black charred and burnt I looked down at my body, it alarmed me when I could still see smoke rising from my freshly burned body but as the scholar worked his white magic I slowly regained my strength, once I had enough strength I got up, it was night now I liked the night but the sky was glowing orange from fires in the distance, "what happened?" I asked the scholar worried my past attack hadn't worked. He replyed "The storm is gone, it was destroyed when you hit that orb, I think you when a little bit overboard those orbs are fradgile and break without the to much effort, the force you hit it with caused a explosion of magic destroying the tower." I looked around. I was on the ground?, I looked up the tower above me on a lean with the peak where I stood a couple of hours ago completely destroyed. I turned to him "how did it get down here?" he said with a small chuckle "same way I did, we were blown off the roof!" shocked I said " How did we survive such a fall?" the scholar now seemed rather pleased with himself "I made a barrier before we hit the ground, it softened our fall I saved your life."

Sanctuary Burns

My vision was blured as I slowly rose to my feet. The first sight was a sight of horror burning buildings everywhere bodys laying in the streets the storm caused more devisation than I first thought. From where I was standing the storm only threw out lightning bolts, but there was ice spikes falling from the clouds and fire rained down on the buildings destroying everything in its wake, then it hit me. My Home! I ran through the streets reaching in to the electricity in my body and using it to make my legs move even when they screamed to stop. It only took me a few mins to get to my home and thats when I saw it. The whole house had been burned to the ground, the bodys of my parents lay cradeling my baby sister in there arms, I dropped to my knees crying. The tears streaming down my face landing heavily on my hands, they were gone, there bodys black charred and burned, there flesh still smoking from the heat, everything I knew was destroyed in one night. How could I go on. then I heard a sound. I didnt recognise it at first then it hit me. Its a baby crying, I quickly rushed over to my parents body and there she was. Black from ash that had rained down on her, untouched from the heat. The last gift my parents gave me, the gift of my little sisters life, I pulled apart the burned arms of my mother her face resembled nothing of her past beauty as i cradeled my little sister in my arms I glansed over at my father his hands out streched. He was casting when he died, he must of put a sheild around my mother but when the fire burned him the sheild fell, my mother was lucky to keep my little sister alive. I remember just after my sister was born, mother and father argued alot about the name of the child. I dont think they ever named her, so I named her then and there. I looked down at the small child in my arms her beautiful crimson red eyes refected the fires burning around her, and then I said it, "I'll call you Ash" the fires of destruction destroyed my home and from the ash my sister servived it only seemed fitting. as other mages around me put out fires and healed the injured I sat in the rubble of my former home and tried my hardest to stop Ash from crying. I knew I had alot of work to do and I didn't know if anyone will help me.

Most of the city has been destroyed there was a  small section of the city left untouched as the Storm hadn't reached it yet and it was destroyed before it could do any serious damage. the people left in the city all moved to the good part of the city people shared homes, food and water, because of the Storm there is no more power to any of the homes I have been asked to help restore the power but that was all I was asked to do. It has been hard finding a place for me and little ash to stay in as alot of the people believe I caused to devistation of The Storm. My name to people who didnt know me we "The Black Death" I passed it off I knew what I had done for the city and I wasnt going to try and prove to strangers what I had done for them. The Scholar found me and ash a place to stay and said we could stay there without being hassled by the neighbours. All I had to do now was look after Ash

The aging of my people is a strange one, we are infants for a matter of weeks, childs for months and adults with in 1 or 2 years in that time our brains learn faster than later on in life some truely lucky individuals remember the first 10 weeks of being a child without missing a second but after the first year when we are about 16 or 17 the aging process slows down drasticly we will age once within our next year and then once every two years after that most Scholars who are alive today are at least two hundered years old and they dont look a day over 70

"Umm idk Lib, it looks dangerous, better we try searching that seed in an other place..afterall what should a seed do in that glowing rock, it looks hot and very inappropriate for a seed ..." Lib looks confused at Handy "Oh well, if you say so ..." then returns and speaks to himself dangerously loud "I must find a way to provoke those shades once more, i want ..to.. kill...them...ohh how i want to kill them..." With a smiling face Lib turns back to Handy "But better lets ask Akasha she should be back soon, maybe the seed is there afterall"
